Jeetendra made his debut in the movies in 1964 with Geet Gaya Patharon Ne but years before that, he appeared in a blink-and-miss role in V Shantaram’s popular film Navrang. Jeetendra, in a chat with Vinay Pathak, recalled how he landed a role in the film and believed that he was going to play a significant part, when in fact he was just playing a background artiste in the movie.
As part of the Deccan plateau, the rocks of Hyderabad are said to be older than dinosaurs – dated back to 2.5 billion years ago. The igneous rocks formed due to major volcanic eruptions. And the patient stonemason that time is, centuries of erosion created several shapes in the stones in areas like Golconda Fort, Durgam Cheruvu, Shamirpet Lake among other places.
These rocks have left an impact on the art and culture of the region that reflects time and again. That’s how as part of the baithak series organised by ‘The Rocks of Hyderabad’ a musical evening titled ‘Geet Gaya Patharon Ne’ is to be held on the evening of February 18. Says Mahnoor Yar Khan, a drama therapist and artist associated with ‘The Rocks of Hyderabad’,
Classical vocalist Kishori Amonkar is known to speak her mind on Hindi film music. In a 2014 interview, she called it a nuisance. “Film music has now become only rhythmic noise,” she said.
Born on April 10, 1932, in Mumbai, Amonkar received her first lessons in classical music from Anjani Malpekar, from the Bhendibazaar gharana, and her mother Mogubai Kurdikar, a heavyweight maestro of the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana. Amonkar’s training was in khayal songs set in traditional raags. Bhajans and thumris were her forte.

Sini Shetty from Karnataka was crowned Miss India 2022, while Rubal Shekhawat from Rajasthan was announced the first runner-up at the pageant. Shinata Chauhan from Uttar Pradesh also made it big and emerged as Miss India 2022 second runner-up.
As part of her homecoming, Femina Miss India 2022 second runner-up Shinata Chauhan visited her alma maters – Cambridge School, Srinivaspuri, and Maharaja Agrasen College, where she is pursuing Journalism and Mass Communication (Hons). From sharing her success mantra to signing autographs for students, Shinata reflected on her journey with her friends and teachers.
Pragnya, who was born and raised in Hyderabad, was crowned Miss Supranational India 2022 in Mumbai by the reigning queen Ritika Khatnani. One year later Pragnya headed to Poland as the proud and purposeful Indian representative, she went on to secure a place in the Top 12 and clinched the continental title of Miss Supranational Asia 2023, which marked the second consecutive win for India.
Pragnya is a 20-year-old fashion design student, who is a nature enthusiast. A trained Bharatanatyam dancer, Pragnya loves K-dramas. The beauty queen, who will now represent India at the Miss Supranational 2022 pageant aspires to start a sustainable fashion brand as she feels for the cause and wants to create awareness for conserving the environment.
